It can be a bit tricky dealing with moving files in cPanel and on a Linux server and there are a few scenarios you might have encountered. Hello Prezak, and thanks for the great question. Please let us know if you are able to find out from your host where the file is if the scenario described above isn’t what happened. So I’d just double-check to make sure you’re looking for the file called videos, and not a directory named that, or one of the names of the original. If you then took your videos2.zip file and tried to move it to the same non-existent directory, because that path is now the file name for your original videos1.zip file, the videos1.zip content would be overwritten with the content from videos2.zip, but again the file name itself would just be /public_html/images/stories/videos. The videos1.zip file should now be located in the /public_html/images/stories directory, and it would be called just videos and it would not be a separate directory containing that same. Then moved it to a non-existent folder of: png images to the “ test” folder.Select the files and drag them into the directory you want to move them to on the left side.Īs I had mentioned in my first reply, if you took the file:

The following will explain how to drag files to move them and how to use the “ Move” button to move files to a specific directory path. This allows you to move your files from any location that has internet access. The File Manager is a way you can move your files without having a program installed on your local computer like FileZilla or CyberDuck. You can use the File manager to move your files on your server.
NOTE!! If you do not know where your files are located on the server, please see our article on What directory should I put my files in?. This tutorial will explain how to move your files in cPanel and using FTP (FileZilla).
You can use the cPanel File manager, an FTP program, Shell using SSH, or and HTML editor like DreamWeaver. There are many ways you can move files around on your server.
When working with your website files, it is necessary to move files from one location to another.
